Someone recently referred to me as a “foodist,” and I’d be lying if I told you that I didn’t kind of love that term. FOODIST: One who works in, on, and all around food. This is me, friend. I am her, a foodist through and though. I have written and subsequently published thousands of recipes via my various blogs, newsletters, books, and in magazines over the last 15+ years. I have stumbled my way into food styling and photography work that I absolutely love. I wax pretty poetic about food and all of its enchanting peripheries on my Substack (Talking With My Mouth Full). And I even help co-host culinary tours to delicious destinations around the world.
So yeah, Foodist seems a pretty apt term for the funky little ecosystem of food-adjacent work with which I’ve occupied myself for such a long time now. I suppose it is both fitting and high time that I wade into another corner of Foodland, one that I’ve said I’d never touch because it just seems extra murky, messy in ways that intimidate me exponentially more than anything I’ve ever tried on for size.
A FOOD BRAND. A healthy salad dressing brand, to be exact. Whew. Yes, I launched Dressy last month – on June 1 – and now it’s this living, breathing thing for which I am wholly responsible (okay, halfway responsible as I have a lovely co-founder, a co-captain on this scary entrepreneur-ship). It still, even now, feels very big and almost silly to talk about because of all the unknowns it holds, this thing I just launched. Big because it’s so out there for everyone to see and judge and love and reject and take into their kitchens, or not. Silly because, of course it is – everything I have ever done seems to hold those exact same qualities.
I love to feed people really delicious, beautiful things. I love to find ways to make our everyday rituals a little more memorable, if possible. A little more delicious, if I can. Everything I work on comes out of this pretty basic love, I think. Dressy is yet another way for me to stretch out this desire of mine in a way I’ve yet to explore. And so. Without further ado, I’m excited to share a little more about what Dressy is today, and what my hope is for it as it grows and makes its way into the market.

What is Dressy?
Dressy is our line of superfood salad dressing mixes, created to bridge the gap between the convenience of store-bought dressing and the flavor of something you’d make from scratch.
Each packet is filled with thoughtfully chosen herbs, spices, and nutrient-rich ingredients, then blended with just one fresh ingredient from your own kitchen to create a creamy, vibrant dressing in minutes. No long ingredient lists, and no sacrificing flavor or wellness for convenience.
We created this healthy salad dressing brand because we wanted an easier way to enjoy homemade dressings on busy weeknights. As someone who has spent years developing recipes and obsessing over flavor, I wasn’t willing to settle for bottled dressings filled with ingredients I didn’t recognize – but I also knew I wasn’t realistically making dressing from scratch every time I tossed together a salad.
Dressy is our answer: clean, incredibly flavorful salad dressing mixes that make eating well feel a little easier and a lot more delicious.

What Flavors Does Dressy Have?
At launch, Dressy includes three signature flavors, each with its own personality and plenty of ways to use it.
Hello, Ranch is our fresh take on the classic everyone loves. Creamy, herby, and packed with flavor, it’s just as happy alongside a platter of vegetables as it is drizzled over salads, tucked into wraps, or served with chicken wings and fries.
Green Goodness is bright, savory, and loaded with super greens and botanicals like spirulina, alfalfa, and nutritional yeast for an extra boost of goodness. It’s one of my favorite ways to dress grain bowls, roasted vegetables, sandwiches, and hearty salads.
Sundress is our update to a berry-style vinaigrette – and it is only available for a limited time. A fun summer drop, this flavor is my dream-come-true as it perfectly walks the line between sweet and savory thanks to the very intentionally selected cohort of ingredients. Three antioxidant rich berrys play so well with mustard, plenty of garlic, salt, and only a tiny piinch of sugar to bring out their beautiful sweetness. It’s delicious tossed with grain bowls, pasta salad, roasted vegetables, grilled chicken, fruit salad, or simply tossed with crisp greens.
While these are our founding flavors, they’re only the beginning. We already have plenty of ideas simmering for future additions (one to be released at the end of summer), and I can’t wait to continue growing both this collection as well as additional product lines.

How Do I Make the Dressings?
One of my favorite things about Dressy is that making the dressings couldn’t be simpler.
For our creamy flavors (Hello, Ranch and Green Goodness), simply combine one packet with 1 cup of mayonnaise, or use a combination of mayonnaise and plain yogurt if you prefer a lighter, tangier dressing. Add a splash of water, whisk until smooth, and you’re done.
One of the very best things about making your own dressing is that you can easily customize the consistency. Add a little more water for a thinner dressing that’s perfect for tossing with salads, or keep it a bit thicker for dipping vegetables, wings, fries, or spreading onto sandwiches and wraps.
Our fruit-forward Sundress is made a little differently. Simply whisk the mix with a bit of water and a neutral-flavored oil – we especially love avocado oil – for a bright, vibrant vinaigrette that’s wonderful on fresh greens, fruit salads, grain bowls, and more.
That’s it. No long ingredient lists, no complicated techniques, and no specialty ingredients to hunt down. Just a few pantry staples and a minute or two of mixing for a dressing that tastes wonderfully homemade.
